I grew up the eighth and last child in a small town in the Missouri Ozarks in a teacher's home, therefore, semi-poor. But, education was considered somewhat a priority, and mental banter and reading were constants, although reading material was limited so available books were read and re-read.
First, I hold no claim to great intellectual refinement or scholarship. At a certain point in my life, I became convinced that human wisdom was finite, and I chose faith in Jesus Christ for my attitude and the Holy Bible as my truth. I do admire knowledge and, to some extent, those who have it. Anyone who is anti-Christ, however, can only have antipathy for my opinions and beliefs. I understand that and grant you that freedom. With my particular Christian filter, I view my world, and all my understanding is colored by that spiritual range of vision. I invite all to think along with me, but will not argue or debate with you on these faith matters.
Second, I'm not out to prove a point, just sharing an older man's perspective as stated. I've always believed one could grow (nowadays I'm not really sure what that means) as a person by listening and sharing with others, and, I guess, I hope to some extent that can happen to those who read along and share with me. My war, my battle, my fight is not with you as a person. But, I am in a battle . . . and my weapon is, not merely symbolically, but actually, my fear of the Lord. I believe in Heaven and I believe in Hell. I believe in the risen Savior Jesus. I believe in the natural, once chosen, evil of human persons.
Third, forgive me please when I rant and sometimes become irrational and meaningless; it's just one aspect of my personality that I've never been able to control very well. Please overlook that rudeness and wait for calmer remarks.
Finally, I thank you if you choose to come along and listen to what I offer. It's a pleasant pastime for me I hope and maybe I can offer some words of insight and encouragement for you along the way.
